Yahoo posted and article from answers.con about 10 things your didn't know about In and Out. They posted the first in and out as being torn down due to the pomona fwy (60) being built in 1954. Pomona freeway wasn't built until after 1964.... Kool stuff here on your Blog I really enjoyed reading this.
ReplyDeleteThanks. The original was where the 10 FWY now stands, not the 60, as you know. I have also finally learned the exact street addresses for 5 of the first 6 In-N-Out stores. I knew their general location, but now I have the exact address.
DeleteThe first 6 In-N-Out locations : #1 Baldwin Park (1948) #2 San Gabriel (1950) #3 Arcadia (1950) #4 El Monte (03-01-1951) #5 Pasadena (09-18-1952) #6 Azusa (1952).
Delete#1 was originally on Garvey Avenue. The 10 Freeway was built and they moved to the north side of the freeway. Later on they moved to the south side of the freeway at the current location.
#2 San Gabriel - 823 S. San Gabrial Avenue. This store went to partner Charles Noddin and is no longer there.
#3 Arcadia - 218 W. Huntington This store went to Charles Noddin and was later re-acquired by Harry Snyder. Then closed and moved to 420 north Santa Anita Avenue,
#4 was originally in El Monte and later was moved to San Bernardino Road in West Covina. This store was on the north side of the street and suffered a fire. It was opened on the south side of the street and east of it's location. Later it was moved back west across from it's original location, now on the south side of the street. 15610 San Bernardino Road,
#5 Pasadena The only store in it's original building and at it's original location. A 2-story building just south was added to house supplies and prep areas. The 2nd story on this building once housed a pool table, and Harry Snyder used to come to hang out and play pool.
#6 Azusa - 841 W. Foothill Blvd (Route 66). Opened in 1953. This location went to Charles Noddin when the partnership split up. Harry Snyder later opened the 2nd #6 on Azusa Avenue on 08-01-1966. Not very many people know about the first #6 Azusa location.
